The Giraffe and Her Neck is a children’s book aiming to teach children the importance of building one’s self-esteem for all ages. Showing how it is important to respect and value others, as well as differences.
Have you thought of a time you had to believe in yourself? How were you able to receive the confidence you needed in order to achieve your goal?

As an educator teaching English for over two decades, Carla J. Mckenzie has experienced the trials that come with having hope despite roadblocks or bumps in the road. The Giraffe and Her Neck comes in a Spanish version as well La jirafa y su pescuezo.
In our interview with author Carla Jordan McKenzie, we get insight into how this book came to pass.
Although the main characters in the story are animals it shows how all are meant to be as one. Having the ability to see each other as individuals that can all contribute something to each other. Whether it be friendship, fellowship, or just mutual liking and understanding.
McKenzie’s message in The Giraffe and Her Neck is “none has a position more than any other”. Research has shown that children with quality books and metacognitive strategies for learning are likely to have improved reading comprehension and an increase in self-esteem.
The Giraffe and Her Neck will be having a launching event at Republic Latin Fusion located at 181 North 10 Street, Brooklyn, NY 11211. Be a part of the celebration on April 19th, The Giraffe and Her Neck.
