Being on the journey of being a writer and a media person you have many times of discouragement but outside of that.  There is beauty in the struggle, although we don’t want to struggle but unfairly it comes with life.

Living in New York, it’s a competitive  arena. It can give off the energy of every man for themselves or it can give a great sense of unity. Having said that, you face rejection letters from employers and don’t get into being a freelance writer. It can be a great challenge especially how there are always many things you have to be aware of.

One is being paid for your content, fairly. Second, here in New York everyone is always looking for an intern which is frustrating when you have responsibilities because most times interns are not paid.

While in a interview with General Manager Glenn Walker, for the podcast #TheDiaryOfAdulting , the conversation of how do you balance the anxiety and depression of being in the field of media.

“….you are not alone”; “You have to work hard for what you want and if you have a vision you have to be able to go through.”

Going through these different obstacles, it causes a time for self-reflection.

There’s a book by “The Little Book of Being” by Diana Winston. Winston speaks about experiencing natural awareness- an effortless and spacious state of resting in the depth of our being.

When you are reflecting on how far you have come and the things you are working towards, be reminded to look within oneself. The chaos that comes with life such as bills, health, wellness, finances, even parenthood; it can be a great overwhelming feeling that makes you just want to shed a tear. I’m here to let you know, it’s okay but don’t stay in that state for too long because time waits for no one. I may cry but after I have cried I’m gonna brush myself off and keep on at it. You have to always remember self-care is important, and that may be the self.
