Over 30% reside in what’s referred to as Borough Park, many have migrated to Brooklyn going back to the early 1970s. The population of Hasidic Jews have communities in Williamsburg, Borough Park, and Crown Heights.

Often in their communities, they have everything they need. As in healthcare, schooling, synagogues, businesses, police, etc. They are a community that sticks together and are strong in their religious beliefs. Whatever your teachings are, you can be able to find all your needs in Brooklyn.
In recent years, Brooklyn has become a place for hipsters to come to express their creativity and voices. India, an artist from Williamsburg, ‘I love coming to Brooklyn and seeing the community of Jews, their fellowship and discipline is something to cater after their fashion is top-tier especially in the winter. Besides that, it is rich in culture, from the food to the arts.’

Alex, a Brooklyn native, ‘ Brooklyn has become expensive over the years, living cost is unbelievable but if you have been born here you are to get a taste of all culture. The Jewish company is one of them. Spread love, it’s the Brooklyn way!’
As a community, it is important to be a Jew that their values are seen in and reflected within their community because it is a part of their identity.
The Jewish population can be people that live as if they have no worries. Their children can go as they please because they feel safe, women are married young and often have children once wedded, men are seen as the head.
Brooklyn Jews constitute 36.3 percent of the borough population.
The Jewish community has spread south and west through the borough into Borough Park, Eastern Parkway, Bath Beach, Flatbush, and Coney Island.
There are a total of about 1.1 million Jews that live throughout New York City. The growth in the Jewish community is caused by the Orthodox and Hassidic Jews, where a great number lives in Borough Park and the borderline of Williamsburg. Just as any other community they face their issues. One issue that is great is poverty. Brooklyn has been known as the capital of poverty for the Jewish community, with a poverty rate ranging in 43 percent. In the community there are charities dedicated to helping those in need.
Mainly because of the population growth and also due to the lack of higher education within the community. It’s recorded that 38 percent of the households in the Jewish community are considered poor. Despite their hardships they are a strong community that continues to thrive.
